Trick or Treat for warm winter clothes

Many thanks to all the club members who donated warm winter clothes to the IRC donation day on Halloween. Many thanks too the club members who helped with the clothing distribution drive on Halloween. Here are some photos from this fun service project!

Meeting Minutes October 1, 2015

Notes:

  • Final details about Wine into Water were discussed. It brought in $ 7500 thus exceeding our goal for the global grant.
  • Social: This month the social will be at Liz Sherlock’s house, 934 E Pennsylvania Place, SLC, 6-8:30. It is our annual Oktoberfest and an invitation will be sent out through email with details.
  • Retreat: October 17th 9-12 am, Cottonwood Club.
  • The Rotary International President will be in town on October 16th for the Parliament of World Religions. A dinner in his honor will be held at the Marriott Downtown City Center. 6-7 pm social hour, dinner at 7 pm. Cost: $30.00. Please make checks out to the club.  It is also possible to volunteer for the Parliament of World Religions and get a discount to attend. Danny will send info on this. 
  • Glade Hamilton, District Governor gave a presentation along with his wife, Vicky. 
    • She described being a brain tumor survivor and how it had changed her life. 
    • Glade discussed how effective the Rotary campaign against polio had been, only 41 Cases this year compared to 350,000 in 1985.  
    • He also discussed the theme of Rotary President that we all have gifts to give. He mentioned 4 areas of focus: 
      • 1. New Generations (RYLA); 
      • 2. Membership; 
      • 3. Rotary Foundation (increase giving); 
      • 4. Attendance at District events such as District Assembly and District Conferences.  
    • RCOM goals in these areas: 
      • 1. Send 2 youths to RYLA; 
      • 2. Grow by 3 members; 
      • 3. Send $2326 to the Rotary Foundation; 
      • 4. Participate in District events, 4 to Assembly, 1 for Conference May 5-7th.
