• SUNNYVALE CHILDREN'S THEATER ON MARCH 28 - Miriam gave an update and asked for help on March 28.  Watch e-mail for details and come help a young refugee read their lines, act, make costumes and decorate.  
• INTERNATIONAL SERVICE - Marty Gelman is going to form a team to help plan a humanitarian trip for RCMC to Cuba in 2014.  Stay tuned

Agenda Items:

Membership - Susan Marks - Susan gave us an update on our successful event on February 28.  Many of the guests are planning to join.  Be sure to forward the application and financial information sent by Judy Zone via e-mail to your guest and ask Susan if you want more follow-up.

Laurie will ask each Rotarian to assist with reach-outs to our members that are not attending meetings.  Our club is at 25 members.  We need to reach 31 to achieve a Presidential Citation Award.

District Conference is May 3-5 in Ogden.  Mrs. Labatte was our guest and provided a great video and update on this fun event.  If you are interested in attending, our club receives a $20 refund towards our local service if we have 7 registered attendees by March 31.  Both Laurie and Miriam are attending.  Reach to Laurie for more information.

Local Service - Miriam Kramer - Our club will be conducting a Children's Theater on March 28 at Sunnyvale.  Miriam shared her plans and asked for feedback.   We will be helping the children present a short, fun version of "Cinderella Big Foot."  Miriam will bring more information/assignments to our meeting on March 14.  

OUR SOCIAL THIS MONTH IS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13, AT JUDY'S HOUSE.  JUDY IS HOSTING A GOING AWAY PARTY FOR KARLA ACOSTA.  PLEASE JOIN IF YOU CAN.

February 14, 2013 - Service at Sunnyvale

February Service Project - Sunnyvale Community Center

Several of our RCMC members joined Sunnyvale Center for a grand opening.  Several county officials attended as well.  It was fun to see our contributions and volunteerism at work.  The space is transformed.  See the blog and Facebook for photos.

Karla Acosta (exchange student from Peru) got here 3 weeks ago; visited Moab; skied at Snowbird w/ski lessons and gave a power point presentation on her Country and home city of Iquitos, Peru ~ on the amazon river and she presented us with a Rotary Flag from the local club there ()we will provide a Flag of ours once we receive our order but before she leaves for sure)

We have an opportunity to pick up a host a Rotarian visitor who will speak at our District Conference [ pick up on a Friday afternoon, return them to the airport Saturday after the speech] the speaker is starting a “non-traditional” Club in Minnesota

RCMC is supporting the Sunnyvale Grand Opening on Feb 14^th 4-6; they are expecting 200 people to attend the open house, need help in setting up at 3:30

February 28^th meeting is our New Member Invitation event at Café Madrid … we’ll have a 15-20 minute formal presentation then mingle.  Open Bar available to everyone; Our goal is for every member to BRING a prospect (wear your Rotary Pin and name badge) invite (3) with desired outcome to have at least (1) show up; please forward names of guests to Laurie no later than February 25^th so we have correct amount of seating, food, etc; we’re assessing all current members $5.00 to cover the expense of the guests for the evening

A big thank you and a great boxing pose!

Thanks Frank Lilly for delivering the hygiene kits and the school supplies to the kids at the South Salt Lake Police Athletics League Pete Suazo Boxing Gym and Community Center. The kids were thrilled! They gave Rotary Club of Millcreek a thank you card and a good boxing pose!

 

Our club combines service & socializing for a wonderful evening!

Thanks to all who participated in our service project/social on Thursday January 31 at President Laurie's home. We filled 50 decorative bags with school and hygiene supplies, and had a wonderful time socializing before and after! The bags will be donated to refugee teens.

Those who missed, missed a lot of fun. This club is coming together so well and everyone is making such great friends.
