From our International Service Chair, Justin Powell, during his site visit for our Rotary Global Grant application for water projects in Madagascar:
"Madagascar's humanitarian
issues are heartbreaking! Even in the capital, where I am staying, they
are predicting that within the next few days they will run out of water in the
taps... in the capital! Their rainy season was to start in November, but not a
drop of rain yet.
Nicholas Kristof was here recently and did some pieces
on Madagascar. They have been severely affected by global climate change-
especially because they have very little infrastructure to weather hardship.
This has made working on this water project from our club such a bitter
sweet experience."
I'm so proud of the continued success of our Wine Into Water fundraiser which gives us the ability to support critical water projects. Thanks to all who contribute and share in 'service before self."
