The Object of Rotary
is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; recognition of worthiness of all useful occupations; and dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve;
THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Rotary’s Five Avenues of Service
Club activities fall into 1 of the Five Avenues. Where is your interest? Are you on a committee yet?

Club Service - focuses on strengthening fellowship & ensuring effective functioning of the club.
Vocational Service - encourages Rotarians to serve others through their vocations and to practice high ethical standards.
Community Service - covers the projects and activities a club undertakes to improve life in its community.
International Service - actions taken to expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach globally, and to promote world understanding and peace. Rotarians can sponsor a project in another country, seeking international project partners to support projects in their own communities, or by personally volunteering at an international project site.
New Generations Service - recognizes the positive change implemented by youth and young adults through leadership development activities, e.g., RYLA, Rotaract and Interact, service projects, and creating international understanding with Rotary Youth Exchange.

The Four Way Test of the Things We Think, Say or Do
Written by Rotarian Herbert Taylor in 1932. A code of ethics adopted by Rotary in 1943.
First, is it the truth?
Second, is it fair to all concerned?
Third, will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Fourth, will it be beneficial to all concerned?
