April 12, 2012 - Meeting Minutes

We had another great meeting at our new location, Cafe Madrid. Meeting notes follow:

PLEASE THINK GOOD THOUGHTS FOR OUR PRESIDENT, MEGAN DUNN, WHO HAS BEEN VERY ILL. WE WISH HER A SPEEDY RECOVERY.

Welcome and Introduction of guests - we had 22 attendees this week with two guests that may join our Club. We welcomed two new members - Bill Kille and Shannon Tilley and are pleased to see our club growing.
April Social - Annie announced that our social will be on Thursday, April 26 at 6:15pm at Cafe Madrid. Watch for an eVite.

Upcoming Community Projects - Miriam gave a great update. Please add these dates/events to your calendar:

  • April 21 - 4-6pm - tutoring Bhutanese refugees

  • May 19 Refugee community gardening - this is a date change due to Memorial Day Weekend

  • June 16 - World Refugee Day

  • Hosting Rotarian from Peru's daughter- The RCMC agreed to host Carlos' daughter, Carlita (16 years old) from January to March, 2013. She will stay with Pablo Fiesta's family and RCMC members will help entertain throughout her stay.

Rotary Learning - Susan Marks - Susan encouraged each of us to buy the book, "A Century of Service" to learn the history of Rotary. You can find it through the Rotary website or on Amazon for $15. Read on.
Register for Rotary District Conference on June 1-2 at Zermatt Resort. You can go both days, or one day. Visit the website to register and for details - www.urdc2012.com. Megan Dunn is a featured speaker on Saturday morning. Let's support her.

Be sure to complete the survey sent yesterday by Judy on the Parks project. Survey due Monday.

Sergeant at Arms - John Zone. John put a positive spin on the night by wrapping up with RCMC members sharing good things that had happened to them and adding to the kitty by sharing good karma. The group earned over $100 by sharing what a lucky group of people we are and how many good things are going on in our lives!

    See you tutoring next Saturday!
